Where is the Forest? I Can’t See the Forest, Why?

Last week on the way home from Arctic Adventure at the Town Park we drove by the construction site near our home on St. John’s sideroad just East of Leslie Street, Town of Aurora. My five year old immediately spotted new homes sales office and a big sign beside as we drove by, but no forest. It must be noted that it is very normal for the builders to advertise nature. However, let not forget, that lot of nature is also removed by builders.

St. John’s Forest” – he read carefully.
But where is the forest?” – he asked right after.
Exactly, where is the forest?” – I replied.

As I reflect on my experiences as a resident engaged in municipal politics, I find myself often swept up in the currents of past political moments. These reflections aren't just about policies or decisions but about the broader shifts in how we've navigated civic life. The sense of nostalgia isn't just for the times when things felt simpler, but for a period when political engagement seemed more direct, more personal. As someone actively involved in the shifting dynamics of municipal issues, I often find myself questioning where the passion and clarity of earlier days have disappeared—and whether today's politics can ever reclaim that same sense of purpose.
