Only The Unleashed Wildlife Allowed In Sheppard’s Bush

The man is going about his business, while the dog is also occupied with its own affairs.

I just wish that the Town of Aurora posted fines on their signs throughout the town and enforced them for walking with unleashed dogs and for dogs pooping and owners not scooping after their dogs.

Please, please learn from your neighbours and visit Fairy Lake or the Tim Taylor Trail in Newmarket. They got something right.

Dogs must be leashed

We were on our way out from Shepherd’s Bush on Sunday afternoon. A man with a very nice big white dog walked by. The dog sniffed and walked away. The dog was not on a leash.

A few minutes later, as we were exiting Shepherd’s Bush, another man was just walking in with a dog. I will not describe it, but I will leave a series of pictures here for your interpretation.

A man with unleashed dog, Sheppard’s Bush parking lot
A man with still unleashed dog, entered Sheppard’s Bush trail
The man is going about his business, while the dog is also occupied with its own affairs.
Unleashed dog all the way, Sheppard’s Bush

Obviously, a lot of dog owners do not know how to interpret the signs. Maybe we should all change them to “Only Unleashed Wildlife Is Allowed” and “Do Not Scoop After Wildlife.”

Kidding aside, do you think this is right?

I’m with you Anna! It’s not just the messy poop. It’s the aggressive dogs too! I’ve had to literally kick the odd dog that has charged aggressively at my leashed dog. Many other less aggressive ones I’ve had to grab by the collar and hold away from my dog. Quite a stretch of the arms, I’ll say! Oh, and no word of apology from the offending dogs’ owners… either averted eyes, quietly claiming their dog or over the top with verbal abuse! Too many uneducated and uncaring dog-owners.

Barry, you are right many uneducated and uncaring dog owners. I shall add, ignorant. These are some crazy incidences. Something needs to be done … my sidewalk issue is now completed, this shall be next. I will be accumulating evidences. On the side note, my issue is that dogs smell fear in me. I think I have gotten better lately because they don’t charge at me as they used to. Having Matthew with me actually scares me. I had some big dogs growling at me, and they were unleashed.

Our town has a strong movement to shut down the dog beach, because the dog owners don’t clean up, don’t keep their dogs on a leash, and they don’t stay on the dog beach (they wander up and down the beach where they’re not allowed). Dog owners just don’t care. So I think they should be banned from public places, myself.

Town would never do that here. They need customers and unfortunately many of them have dogs.

As I reflect on my experiences as a resident engaged in municipal politics, I find myself often swept up in the currents of past political moments. These reflections aren't just about policies or decisions but about the broader shifts in how we've navigated civic life. The sense of nostalgia isn't just for the times when things felt simpler, but for a period when political engagement seemed more direct, more personal. As someone actively involved in the shifting dynamics of municipal issues, I often find myself questioning where the passion and clarity of earlier days have disappeared—and whether today's politics can ever reclaim that same sense of purpose.
