Wacky Weather Woes: It’s So Cold, I’m Outta Here!

Today, we made a spontaneous trip to the Nokiidaa Trail boardwalk on St. John’s Sideroad. The weather was a surprise—cold and windy. As we sat on a bench, I could’ve sworn the boardwalk was swaying beneath us. Despite both of us wearing gloves, our fingers were nearly frozen.

It was hard to believe that just last week, we were basking in summer-like temperatures! Matthew, almost four, was in his element, though. He loved the warm weather, even though I couldn’t get him to wear shorts. “Mommy, they’re too short and the other children will laugh at me!” he insisted. On this chilly day, he was cozy in his winter jacket, scarf, and gloves.

While we braved the cold, we caught snippets of conversation from the nearby Canada goose. It was one of those moments where nature’s simple sounds made the day feel a little warmer.

I told you it was too early to come to Aurora,” one goose yelled at the other.

How am I supposed to know that? Besides, please stop yelling at me—my head is frozen,” replied the partner goose.

And what are you looking at? You’re not helping by shooting at us!” the yelling goose said, looking in our direction.

I think you’re darn funny, yelling like that,” I replied.

I’ve had enough. I’m leaving. Will you come back to Florida with me, my darling?” the yelling goose exclaimed as it took off.

Yes, yes, but we have to be back in Aurora next year. There’s always so much happening here, and we shouldn’t miss out on it,” the partner goose replied.

LOL, Hi Anna, LOL, LOL, LOL, oh I loved the dialogue between the geese LOL! So, it is still cold there, eh? But usually around this time the weather is warmer, right? Anyway, my dear friend enjoy while you can because hot hot weather may be on your way. Big hug and send my love to Matthew. Cheers

As I reflect on my experiences as a resident engaged in municipal politics, I find myself often swept up in the currents of past political moments. These reflections aren't just about policies or decisions but about the broader shifts in how we've navigated civic life. The sense of nostalgia isn't just for the times when things felt simpler, but for a period when political engagement seemed more direct, more personal. As someone actively involved in the shifting dynamics of municipal issues, I often find myself questioning where the passion and clarity of earlier days have disappeared—and whether today's politics can ever reclaim that same sense of purpose.
