Remembering at Aurora War Memorial Peace Park, 2015

Moments captured during Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Aurora War Memorial Peace Park on Sunday November 8th, 2015. Unless November 11th falls on a Sunday we have two Remembrance ceremonies. One on Sunday for those who are not available during the week and one at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of every year.

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

My curiosity doesn’t come with all the answers—it comes with a genuine desire to understand and to connect. At the heart of it, I care. I care about how communities grow, how conversations unfold, and how we make space for different perspectives—even when it’s uncomfortable. I don’t claim to have it all figured out. But I keep asking. I keep listening.
