I am conducting a 2026 Municipal Election Quick POLL on TOWN TALK (Aurora, Ontario) to encourage civic engagement and give local residents an opportunity to share their views on how candidates can connect with and serve our community.

Poll: Should CANDIDATES be permitted to POST their platforms in this TOWN TALK (Aurora, Ontario) – former Aurora POLITICS Unleashed? COMMENTS will remain open to all.
Quick summary here. What I gathered is that most people in the group support allowing candidates to post their platforms, especially if the content is already publicly available. Many feel it’s important that posts clearly identify the candidate and that discussions are structured and moderated to ensure transparency, prevent plagiarism, and keep the conversation respectful. A structured process with clear rules, moderated discussion, and campaign documents posted at the same time would help avoid confusion, misinformation, and plagiarism. That said, implementing all of this would require significant time and resources, which I don’t have. I already have a lot on my plate, and trying to control the narrative isn’t something I’m comfortable with. Conversations sometimes start off poorly, but once people share more context or learn new information, they often become productive. I prefer giving people the opportunity to explain themselves rather than shutting things down immediately.
Overall, it seems the group leans toward permitting posts, as long as clear rules, moderation, and fairness are in place. I’ll do my best to come up with something suitable that respects the community’s needs while remaining manageable.
