Canada Day 2026 in Aurora was a hot one! These views were captured near Aurora Heights Drive, looking from the east side of Yonge Street. The west side was practically empty due to the extreme heat and limited shade. The crowds were noticeably smaller this year, likely because of the ongoing heat wave. Even the Town Crier traded the traditional attire for a summer suit to help beat the heat!
With this also being a municipal election year, it was unfortunate to see that the Council float was not fully occupied. Hopefully, next year’s celebration will bring cooler weather and an even stronger community turnout. Before that, though, I hope we see a better voter turnout in October.
