It is hard to believe that I actually survived four years sitting at the Aurora Council meetings, at the Council Chambers and watched religiously Aurora General Committee, Council and Public Planning meetings. Sometimes if time permitted I would sneak into committee meetings. For your information, all these meetings including committee meetings are open to public unless it’s a closed session.
After the Municipal Elections in October last year 2018, we had one final Council meeting for the Council Term 2014-2018 which qualified mainly as farewell meeting – note all the farewell messages and speeches. On December 4th there was Inaugural Council meeting, where official swearing of Mayor and Council into the office of the 2018-2022 Council Term took place. This was a ceremonial meeting. By I gathering all my observations, the theme for next year will be getting the Library Square finished and re-purposing Armoury to Canadian Food and Wine Institute (CFWI) at Niagara College. Niagara College is out of the town business, and not so much an educational institution.
Last term, “A case stating the economic benefits of converting the historic Aurora Armoury into a campus of Niagara College’s Canadian Food & Wine Institute has one again been rejected by Council.
